Making your own waste arrangements
If you live in a row house or in a apartment building, you can ask for advice for recycling from your own administrator of a condominium. Private residences include waste fees in their maintenance charges.
If you live in a single house, you need to make a contract with a waste transportation company. You can choose how to arrange your own waste pick ups. You will pay directly to the transportation company. Please feel free to ask for biowaste services as well!

Biowaste
In the kitchen you need a bin for biowaste, a plastic
bucket is ideal. To prevent the bin getting dirty,
a flour bag, newspaper, or special biowaste bag,
should be placed in it.
Biowaste from households:
perishable
food and leftovers, fruit and vegetable
peel and skins and egg shells
tea bags, coffee dregs and filters
kitchen paper, paper tissues, egg-boxes
garden waste: dirt, plant leaves and stems, etc.
cleaning waste from cages of pets, small
amounts of cat litter
Collection
Brown biowaste containers in properties with at
least four households. In houses you can join your
neighbours and collect biowaste to one container.
Ask more from your waste transport company.
Paper
All paper which is delivered by post is recyclable:
newspapers, magazines, advertisements, phone
catalogues, envelopes, copying paper.

Cardboard: corrugated cardboard, craft paper,

Some companies collect also energy waste. You can
ask for more information from your own waste transport
company. Usually you can put plastic, dirty or
wet cardboard and also old clothes in energy waste.

Electrical goods and electronic scrap
All electrical items from hoseholds: TV:s, computers,
refrigerators, freezers, etc, can be taken to the
Waste Center in Rusko (Ruskonniityntie 10, Oulu) or
to the Waste Stations in the surrounding communities
(see page 12)
