ACTIVITIES IN THE NATURE:

 

HUUTILAMPI FOREST ADVENTURES

In  August, a traditional Huutilampi forest adventure takes place in the Timosenkoski Nature School area. The forest elf needs help along the footpath and the troll may require advice regarding the forest and at the same time adventurers have an excellent opportunity to get to know a forest. The adventures are fairytale-like, full of events and activity and contain bits of information suitable for small children.

HUPISAARTEN HELEMI

Hupisaarten helemi is a good fairy in the city park aroun Alakööki. Helemi means Pearl and that's what she is, a true treasure for the park and a friend of the animals, plants, rocks and water. In autumn Helemi takes the children to Hupisaaret to watch, explore and sense the nature as well as solve Helemi's tiny challenges. While in Ainola Park, one may also see Roska-Roope.

TIERNAPOLKU, STAR PATH

Tiernapolku, star path - with its Star Boy theme is an activity walk in the vincinity of daycare centres. Along the walk, local Christmas tradition regarding the Star Boy play with its cast will be introduced to the participants.

CHRISTMAS PATH

Taavi and Tiivi elves' Christmas path full of activity and events locates near day care centres.

WINTER WITH FOREST ANIMALS

Winter adventure path near daycare centres. Along the path, children see how winter affects animals who live in woods.

YRTTI-MYRTTI WITCH'S EASTER ADVENTURE

Yrtti-Myrtti Witch flies with her broomstick to Kyöpelinvuori, a remote mountain, to spend her Easter with other witches. True to her name Yrtti-. Myrtti i.e., Herbie-Myrtle, she is very fond of all sorts of plants. On her way, she stops to admire and take in the atmosphere and plants at the conservatory. At the same time she organises plants-related activities for groups in daycare.

EARLY SPRING

In May the park wakes up: birds sing, leaves are budding, insects buzz and curious tiny ducklings walk up and down the paths. During the nature walk, the daycare group will observe the signs of spring by moving about, playing and exploring.

COAT OF ARMS ADVENTURE

Oulu City coat of arms portrays a castle and a salmon. The guided adventure tour to the history of the coat of arms starts at Linnasaari, proceeds through the Northern Ostrobothnian Museum to Hupisaaret and fish ladder. The story tells about Oulu and the birth of the coat of arms in early 17th century. The aim is to find the missing pieces to the coat of arms; it is also an opportunity to learn a little about the castle history and salmon fishing then and fish ladder now.

BIRD WATCHIN

In May and June guided bird watching tour with activities in Hupisaaret. During bird watching, birdlife is introduced to children through play, investigation and numerous experiments.

A puppet show telling about recycling salvageable materials.

VILLE VARIS JA ROJUPÖHÖ

Puppet-show tells about wasting and excessive consumption.

WINTER RUMBLES AND BANGS

A puppet show explains about nature conservation.


 

ACTIVITIES AT CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS:

 

THE NORTHERN OSTROBOTHNIA MUSEUM

  • At the time of sail boats - a guided tour at the seafaring department to learn about local maritime history throughs stories and exhibits.
     
  • As we used to live in Oulu a long time ago - aguided tour at the museum introducing Hilda and Peter and life as it used to be in the country as well as in town with the help of stories and exhibits.

OULU MUSEUM OF ART

  • Arts And Activities - guided tours with activities relating to present exhibitions at the museum.

OULU CITY LIBRARY

  • Library adventure for pre-schoolers. At the children's department in the main library, a search for the lost library card while being introduced to rhyme, fairytale, picture and refence books.

OULU CITY THEATRE

  • Introducing the theatre for pre-schoolers. A guided tour for pre-schoolers introducing facilities and activities at the theatre through a current children's play.
