The programme features a variety of exhibitions, lectures and seminar on the theme ‘Russia'. Dance and music theatre from the Caucasus, Karelian puppet theatre and lots of other performers.

Monday 8.4 Opening of Russia Week
An interview with Ville Haapasalo + presentation of films at Teuvo Pakkala Auditorium in Oulu Main Library, 5 pm. For invited guests and general public, free entrance. Opening film: The Cuckoo.

Tuesday 9.4
Siberia Night: What does Siberia teach you? Tauno Kohonen, photographer and entrepreneur from Oulu. Free entrance. Puppet show by the Sisilisko ensemble.

Wednesday 10.4
Sightseeing tour of the new Oulu 2 pm. Targeted at Russians and young people in Oulu in particular, but others are welcome as well. Free entrance. One busload of people can take part in the tour. Tickets are available at the office of the local chapter of the Finnish-Russian Association, Hallituskatu 13 E 50, tel. 08-535 5500. A film featuring Ville Haapasalo is shown in the evening at Studio at Cultural Centre Valve. Puppet show by the Sisilisko ensemble.

Thursday 11.4
Are you familiar with your region and the history of the association? Presentation on the early history of the Finnish-Russian Association in Oulu by the young researcher Niina Törmä.
A film featuring Ville Haapasalo is shown in the evening at Studio at Cultural Centre Valve. Puppet show by the Sisilisko ensemble.

Friday 12.4
A day featuring programme by the youth group. St. Petersburg Rocks: a photo exhibition at Cultural Centre Valve 8.4 -21.4. Tomi Huttunen, author and expert on the rock scene in St Petersburg visits Oulu/Oulu region. A film featuring Ville Haapasalo is shown in the evening at Studio at Cultural Centre Valve.

Saturday 13.4.
Current Russia Seminar at the Holiday Inn hotel in Oulu, 12 noon. Participation fee. 7 pm The world-famous Caucasian dance group ALAN performs at Madetoja Hall in Oulu. Tickets €38/33/20, available from the office of the local chapter of the Finnish-Russian Association. A film by Ville Haapasalo is shown in the daytime at Studio at Cultural Centre Valve.

Sunday 14.4 Closing of Russia Week
Meeting of the northern Finnish chapter of the Finnish-Russian Association in Oulu at Holiday Inn hotel at 12 noon. For members and invited Finnish and Russian guests.
