Centre of Expertise

The objective of the company development programme is to develop the operating environment and the services offered for companies so that a total of 10,000 jobs and 1,800 new companies will be established in the Oulu Region. 

In 1994, the Finnish Home Office launched the Centre of Expertise Programme that aims to exploit specialized technological knowledge and to gather the local, regional and national resources in order to develop international competence areas. The Oulu model has paced the way for the development and progress of the Programme, and has since then received very good international feedbacks and supports. 

There is currently 14 regional and 2 national centre of expertise programs in Finland. The entire project will run until the end of 2006. The Centre of Expertise Programme works in close cooperation with national programs and promotes the national technology centre networking and critical mass creation.
