The Oulu Region includes the City of Oulu and the 10 surrounding municipalities: Hailuoto, Haukipudas, Kempele, Kiiminki, Liminka, Lumijoki, Muhos, Oulunsalo, Tyrnävä and Ylikiiminki. The population of the whole region is ca. 200, 000 people. Oulu is the centre of Northern Finland and the fourth largest urban region of the country - annual increase of 2000-3000 new inhabitants. Its population reaches over 120,000 people. There are good opportunities for studying, working, and promoting the R & D activities, more particularly within the hi-tech sector. Besides, the Oulu Region benefits from a very lively cultural climate.
