How to get to Oulu
The distance between Oulu and Helsinki is approximately 600 km, the same as between Oulu and Nuorgam, the northernmost spot in Finland. The traffic connections are direct and fast, regardless of the means of transport or direction. All main roads meet in Oulu.

Getting to Oulu is quite simple. With an airport on the edge of the City and a railway station in the City centre, Oulu is well connected to the rest of Finland and indeed the whole world.

By plane
The flight from Helsinki to Oulu takes about an hour, and there are 15 daily flights from Helsinki to Oulu, as well as three from Stockholm. For air travel, the addresses you need are www.finnair.com and www.blue1.com.  

By train
Oulu railway station is one of the busiest in Finland. You can get to Oulu from Helsinki in 5 hours 55 minutes with Pendolino train. For train information, look at www.vr.fi/heo/eng, which includes all the details you need.

The taxis and local buses
Once in Oulu, there are taxi’s and an extensive bus network. For local buses within Oulu, you could try www.koskilinjat.fi/in_english/.
