Centralised applying for early childhood education and care 8.–21.2.

Early childhood education and club places, which will be vacant in August 2021, will primarily be applied for electronically on 8.-21.2.2021. If you know that you need a place for your child in a kindergarten, family daycare centre or open early childhood education club in autumn 2021, you should submit an application during a centralised search. If you would like your child to change his/her current early childhood education place, please apply at this stage.

Applications for the position are submitted electronically. You will find the link to electronic application: www.ouka.fi/oulu/english/daycare-applications

The purpose of the centralised applying is to ensure that each child has the early childhood education and care place desired by the family well in advance of the start of the child's early childhood education and care. It will also be easier for daycare centres to plan the composition of the groups starting in August and the necessary resources.

You can also apply for an early childhood education or club place at other times

You can apply for an early childhood education place all year round according to the children's need for care.

An electronic application must be submitted four (4) months before the desired start date of early childhood education and care. In the case of sudden employment or the sudden start of studies, and the need for an early childhood education and care place is not foreseeable, the application must be submitted no later than two (2) weeks before the child needs the place. In this case, however, we cannot guarantee the place from the place you want.

We recommend applying for a place between 8 and 21 February 2021, even if you are still applying for a job or studying. The information in the application can always be updated later when the situation changes. It is also possible to withdraw the application if the place is not needed.

Free clubs for open early childhood education and care

Free clubs in open early childhood education and care are a good and lighter option for children who do not need full-time or part-time early childhood education and care. Home care allowance or a service guarantee received by the family are not an obstacle to participation in clubs.

The child can participate in one club that meets 2 or 3 times a week. In addition to this, he/she can go to the family club together with a familiar adult. More information about open early childhood education clubs can be found: www.ouka.fi/oulu/english/open-early-education
