Welcome to Oulu - event welcomes new residents to Oulu

City of Oulu together with different collaborators organizes Welcome to Oulu – event on 4th October 2018, 2pm-7pm in Aleksinkulma (Aleksanterinkatu 9).
Welcome to Oulu event welcomes new residents by presenting a variety of different services, authorities and free time activities offered in Oulu. 25 organisations will introduce themselves at stands and information points and organize activities during the event.
There will be for example an opportunity to familiarize with the public services, get library card as well as Waltti travel card. Participants will also have an opportunity to meet representatives of social, leisure and integration activities and get involved in their projects. They can ask questions about taxation, housing, KELA and TE services in English and Finnish and beyond that multilingual assistance will be also available.
During the event will take place different kinds of workshops and activities such as International Comics Café, Language Café and Demokratia-Café, Poetry and Dance Workshop, Immigrants’ speeches and musical performances. At the Handcraft Workshop participants can make together winter scarf for The Bobby at the Market Place.
According to Finnish Thursday tradition pea soup will be served as well as coffee and butter buns. Kids play area will be organized during the whole event.
Welcome speeches will be given by Kyösti Oikarinen, The Chairman of the City Board and Piia Rantala-Korhonen, Director, Department of International Affairs.
