Preschoolers break is a dance education project available online, aiming to encourage all children aged 5 to 7, as well as their teachers, to give breakdancing a try by using simple steps. Breakdance, or breaking, gives you the opportunity to try out what your body can do and to experience the joy of learning. Breaking offers a method for developing self-knowledge and personal artistic expression, while also developing teamwork skills.
Material for the project includes the song "Breikkarin saari" designed for breakdancing, and a dance tutorial video which teachers can use to prepare the performance with their own pupils. The song and video are available online for free download from 1.10.2013 at www.soivasiili.fi
In addition, a three-session training on Preschoolers' break is arranged for teachers on Wed 18.9, 1-2.30 PM, Fri 20.9, 1-2.30 PM, and Mon 23.9, 1-3 PM. Enrolment in the training through teachers' training calendar.
The Preschoolers' break dance and music performance is seen at the Valoa Oulu festival opening at Rotuaari 22.11 at 6 PM.
The project is brought to you by dance teacher Paula Puumalainen and children's music ensemble Soiva Siili.
