Kierikki Stone Age Centre's main building is an excellent example of modern, Finnish skill in log building. It is the largest modern log building in Scandinavia. The building received an award in 2001 for Northern Finland's best building achievement, as well as the Wood Architecture Award in 2002.
In the Stone Age village you can see how things were constructed in the Stone Age and what materials were used. The house reconstructions are based on data obtained from archaeological research. Kierikki as a whole received an honourable mention in the European Museum of the Year competition in 2003. The same year, Kierikki Stone Age Centre was also awarded the Europa Nostra cultural heritage award.
