Aurora Borealis

Aurora Borealis describes a colorful light display in the night skies of the Northern Hemisphere. The name comes from the words Aurora (Roman goddess of dawn) and boreal (the Greek name for north wind). Aurorae are also commonly known as Northern lights. In the Southern hemisphere this light display is called Aurora australis, or Southern lights.
