Follow the path! – Open air sculptures of the Oulu Museum of Art

Whether visiting Oulu for the first time or a local, the route will take you through picturesque Oulu and introduce you to numerous public artworks and other landmarks. Surrender yourself to art and come along!

You can enjoy the route together or alone, at any season and any time of day. The route is approximately 4.5 kilometres long and easy to walk, but please take current conditions into account (especially during winter).

The CityNomadi application will provide you information about the artworks and suggest small tasks and activities that you can take if you feel like it. You can start at any point along the route, and you can visit the sights in any order you like. CityNomadi is a map application developed in Finland. You can find Nomadi routes all over the world. They range from urban environments to peaceful and quiet nature trails. More information about the routes available here.

How to start:

1) Download the free Nomadi application from your app store or from the CityNomadi website. No registration is required to access the application.

2) Type “Oulun taidemuseo” in the search field, and choose the “Poikkea polulle!” route. Allow the app access to your location information so that you can see your location on the map in relation to the artworks and the route.

3) Your smart device displays a map view, and you can follow the route to learn about the environment in a new way! Public open-air sculptures and other landmarks are marked along the route.
