The day begins with an independent tour of the archaeological exhibition at the Kierikki Stone Age Centre including the film Sunstone. After the tour the visitors join the archaeological excavation. Instructions are given at the main building’s customer service desk. The excavation area is a prehistoric dwelling site only a hundred meters from the main building. On the site a professional archaeologist shows the right excavation techniques that are used to make sure that all findings are recorded and documented. Adults are provided an instruction booklet, and children are given an honorary diploma for participating in the excavation. The visitors also explore the Stone Age village, craft stone objects and try archery with a prehistoric bow.
