An opportunity Is now open for independent cultural operators of the Oulu region to make study trips to Europe. The purpose is to increase and strengthen international relations around Oulu’s bid to become the European Capital of Culture 2026. The main destinations for the trips are Oslo, Vienna, Paris and London.

The study trips are part of a project focusing on internationalisation and vitality through the Capital of Culture agenda, carried out by the City of Oulu and funded by the Council of Oulu Region. Providing funding for the study trips is the first project for supporting Oulu’s bid to become European Capital of Culture in 2026.

Fifteen people from amongst independent cultural operators will be selected for the study trips, representing Oulu, Kempele, Ii, Hailuoto, Muhos, Tyrnävä, Liminka, or Lumijoki. The application period for the trips ends on May 31.

The goal of the trips is to develop the local cultural selection and its accessibility, elevate the cultural profile and boost collaboration beyond national borders. The applications for the trips are evaluated also for their potential to create and develop European co-operation in view of Oulu’s bid for ECoC 2026. The selected people will be contacted by June 21.
