Oulu works together

Oulu Educational and Cultural Services promotes multiliteracy of children and young people. There are no separate cooperative agreements. Library cooperation is integrated into the curriculums of early childhood education and care, basic education and upper secondary education. Oulu City Library is also part of the STEAM in Oulu Network.

Joy of Reading – Lukumetka

Joy of Reading (Lukumetka in Finnish) is the product of the cooperation between Oulu City Library, maternity and child health clinics and early childhood education. Lukumetka reaches every Oulu-born child and their family. The goal is to promote library services and events and to inspire and encourage every pre-schooler and their families to read.

Library Route – Kirjastoreitti

Library Route (Kirjastoreitti in Finnish) is systematic collaboration between the libraries, basic education schools and upper secondary schools in Oulu. Library Route provides pupils with both contact guidance sessions and learning modules suitable for self-studying. Library Route encourages pupils to read and promotes their multiliteracy and information retrieval skills. Library Route and literacy work are available to all schools and groups. We also take diverse learners into account.
