N.B! Communication between families and groups mainly takes place through eVaka.

We provide pre-primary education from August 2026 onwards in the Hillat and Tyrnit groups for children aged 5 to 6.

Cooperation between pre-primary and primary education is carried out in partnership with our local school, Oulu Teacher Training School (Oulun Normaalikoulu). During the autumn planning meeting, each pre-primary group is paired with a cooperation class at the school. Together with the teachers of the partner or buddy classes, various forms of collaboration are agreed upon, including orientation visits, events, excursions, outdoor activities, and invitations to attend each other's dress rehearsals and performances.

The development of pedagogy for children aged 5 to 8 years is carried out in close cooperation with the local school.

Our pre-primary education follows the City of Oulu Pre-primary Education Curriculum.

Kuivasranta ECEC centre operates in two adjacent buildings and has a total of 12 group facilities.

The groups currently located in the modular building will move to temporary facilities at Kalevalantie 13, 90570 Oulu, in January 2027.

The yard areas are attractive for play and exercise. In the immediate vicinity of the ECEC centre there is a communal Forest Yard, which we use daily. In the vicinity of the ECEC centre, seasonal exercise and hikes to parks and the lake area are possible, which are an excellent learning environment for Green Flag and Half a Day in the Yard activities. The ECEC centre also has its own gym. 

It is important to us that children and parents feel that our activities are safe, adults are present and maintain warm interaction. An unhurried atmosphere, anticipation and flexible small group activities enable individual learning for children.

Courage is reflected in encouraging children to share their wishes, express themselves and try new things in a safe and accepting environment. Children can grow and develop at their own pace. 

Fairness is reflected in the fact that we are fair and equal towards children, families and colleagues. We respect different families and their values. 

Responsibility is particularly visible to us through our Green Flag activities. We teach children a sustainable lifestyle in both social and ecological areas. We learn in nature, utilise nature as a learning environment while respecting it. 

The ECEC centre's encouraging and accepting atmosphere and learning environment, which encourages learning and experimentation, create a prerequisite for a healthy child. 

The activities emphasise nature, exercise, sustainable development and taking children's participation into account throughout the day of early childhood education. 

Play is omnipresent. From a child's perspective, it may be the best thing there could be. 

We follow both the national and Oulu’s own Curriculum for early childhood education and care in our daily work.
