We organise preschool education in Niittyvilla and Kirsikkapuisto groups.
Preschool education in the Maikkula area is centralised at Maikkula ECEC centre and we currently have two preschool groups. Both preschool groups have a sponsor class at Maikkula Primary School. Class teachers and preschool teachers regularly plan and implement cooperation with their own mentor class.
The joint development target of the school and ECEC centre is the development of pedagogy for 5–8-year-olds.
We follow both the national and Oulu’s own Curriculum for Pre-primary Education in our daily work.
Our ECEC centre is located Maikkula, close to good opportunities for outdoor activities. Our ECEC centre has five groups of children: Joutsenlampi, Kirsikkapuisto, Ruusulaakso, Niittyvilla and Pilvilinna.
Our ECEC centre has good, bright facilities and a large yard that is divided into a yard for big and small. Children can also go outdoors in the nearby forest and elsewhere in the surrounding area. For indoor exercise, we use Maikkula multipurpose hall weekly.
Our activities are based on small group pedagogy and enabling children to play. The focus is also on practicing emotional and interaction skills with children. Our goal is to create a positive atmosphere at the ECEC centre, where children can have experiences of success and learn new things.
Our professional staff plans and implements high-quality early childhood education by listening to and respecting the child and responding to his or her individual needs.
We follow both the national and Oulu’s own Curriculum for early childhood education and care in our daily work.
