In our ECEC centre, preschool education is offered in Viirut group. Preschool group cooperate regularly with Kiiminkijoki School. During the preschool year, children get to know the school and the school's operating methods. Cooperation with the school includes, for example, joint excursions and activity sessions, as well as information transfer from future students to school. The purpose of the cooperation is to ensure a safe and flexible transition from preschool to basic education for the child.
We follow both the national and Oulu’s own Curriculum for Pre-primary Education in our daily work.
Vekara-aho ECEC centre is located near the centre of Kiiminki, in a quiet area. Forest and park areas are close to our ECEC centre. Our outdoor yard has just been renovated and serves as a great learning environment. Vekara-aho's three temporary additional groups operate in separate premises in the centre of Kiiminki on Lempiniementie. In everyday life, we make extensive use of nearby sports facilities and the library.
In our operations, we pay special attention to warm interaction and learning together. Each child is met as an individual and children's ideas, wishes and interests are taken into account in the activities.
The activities of each group of children include regular hiking in the surrounding area, especially paying attention to nature sites. Sustainable future goals are at the core of our operations. We also utilise STEAM pedagogy in our everyday work.
We follow both the national and Oulu’s own Curriculum for early childhood education and care in our daily work.
