Groups
Preschool education
We organise preschool education in the Poutapilvet group.
Cooperation between preschool education and primary education is natural and close for us: We operate in the same school building and the goal is to support children's individual learning already at the transition stage of preschool and primary education. A common pedagogical annual clock has been drawn up for pre-primary and primary education, which will be updated with the changing contents of co-education. We work in close cooperation with pupil welfare services, and in everyday life we have a school psychologist and a school social worker to support us in addition to our own early childhood special education teacher.
We follow both the national and Oulu’s own Curriculum for Pre-primary Education in our daily work.
Our ECEC centre
Ylikiiminki ECEC centre is built in connection with the school in 2019 with extended opening hours. If necessary, morning and evening care can be arranged on the basis of treatment reservations Mon-Fri 05:00–22:00. There are four groups in ECEC centre. Children are between 0 and 6 years old. The ECEC centre has a preschool group. Cooperation between preschool education and primary education is natural and close: We are in the same yard, so everyday encounters are natural and we carry out co-education with primary education regularly. The aim is to support children's individual learning at the transition stage between preschool and primary education.
Right next to the school is the world of the little ones. Together here we grow, learn and notice the good in everyday life!
Mission statement
Our ECEC centre's strong focus areas are positive pedagogy, communality, nature education and cooperation between preschool and primary education. Our ECEC centre has a shared learning garden with the school, where we implement learning by research, for example. A unified STEAM path has also been created from preschool to middle school. The ECEC centre has the Green Flag quality label.
We follow both the national and Oulu’s own Curriculum for early childhood education and care in our daily work.
