Groups
Preschool education
We organise preschool education in groups of Ratsut and Liinakot.
Cooperation between the ECEC centre and school is natural, and there are many different ways and opportunities for cooperation. Annual events shared by the whole house, such as Christmas carols and yard events, are already part of the community centre's tradition.
Cooperation between preschool education and grades 1–2 is systematic and regular. The development of cooperation has been adopted as a goal for the next few years, and the intention is to intensify it further.
We follow both the national and Oulu’s own Curriculum for Pre-primary Education in our daily work.
Our ECEC centre
In addition to our ECEC centre, the Heikkilänkangas community centre houses grades 1–2 of the Heikkilänkangas unit of the Madekoski school and an after-school club for schoolchildren.
Heikkilänkangas ECEC centre started its operations in autumn 2003. Our ECEC centre is located in a quiet area close to nature by the River Oulujoki. There is a lot of forest, park areas and fields in the area, which we regularly use as a learning environment with children.
Our ECEC centre has a good setting for versatile exercise: we have a large hall with versatile equipment, as well as sand and artificial grass fields for outdoor exercise. There is a barbecue hut in the yard of our daycare centre, which is a nice extra space for organising various activities with children and families.
Mission statement
Our ECEC centre's operations are guided by positive pedagogy. Finding one's own strengths and experiences of success are an important foundation for the development of a child's self-esteem. We see all everyday situations and their functions as valuable educational and teaching situations. Open interaction and cooperation with families are important to us.
We follow both the national and Oulu’s own Curriculum for early childhood education and care in our daily work.
