Cultural Dialogues was in Oulu!
The Cultural Dialogues, initiated by the Arts Promotion Centre Finland (Taike) in cooperation with The Center for Cultural Policy Research (Cupore) and Oulu for All project, held a moderated discussion on November 24th with 7 amazing Oulu based artists. We discussed the role of artists in today's society, with a particular focus on the experiences of foreign artists living and working in Finland.
In our dialogue, we explored questions such as:
- Where and how do you feel seen as an artist?
- How do language, place, or background influence how you think you are perceived as an artist?
- What feels most meaningful in your artistic work right now?
A summary report of the conversations will be produced as part of the National Dialogues and used in Cupore’s research. The report will be published for general use and shared with public administration and decision-makers in the new Finnish Arts and Culture Agency and the Ministry of Education and Culture.
Thank you to the participating artists! Even though their contribution is anonymous, their insight is invaluable and will impact policy change for a more equitable society.
Arlene Tucker from Oulu for All project was the dialogue facilitator and Anna Sidorova from Taike was the notetaker.
This conversation followed Time Out's facilitation and safer space guidelines.
