Student admissions – Finnish Baccalaureate

Applying as a student

Application is done through the joint application system, and there are 30 starting places available

The main selection criterion is success in the national entrance exam, which assesses the applicant’s academic abilities: mathematical skills, reading comprehension, and writing skills (in English)

Previous academic performance is not considered in the selection, but the applicant must have completed basic education or an equivalent form of schooling

Please note! In 2026, the joint application for upper secondary institutions is open from 17 February 2026 at 8:00 to 17 March 2026 at 15:00. The application form is available in the Studyinfo service. Welcome to apply!

The entrance exam will be held in Finland on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 10:00 to 12:00, and it cannot be taken remotely

With one entrance exam, applicants can apply to multiple upper secondary schools offering education in English, but the exam is taken at the institution that is highest on the applicant’s list of preferences among English-language programs.
