Flow Circus - a series of top contemporary circus performances in Oulu.
Flow Productions brings visiting contemporary circus performances to Oulu in collaboration with a wide network of cultural actors. The series goes by the name of Flow Circus and starts during the Oulu August Festival.
Performances by Cie Nuua and WHS, two of the most internationally successful Finnish contemporary circus groups, are seen in August. The performances feature juggling, object manipulation, magic, acrobatics, and dance. On the programme later in the autumn are Clown Solo Part 5: Memorial Service by Laura Rämä and Huhu (Rumour) and other aerial acrobatics solos by Ilona Jäntti. The series aims to cover the whole spectrum of contemporary circus, and visiting performers are invited from all over Finland. The visiting performance series is produced by Flow Productions and curated by dance artist Pirjo Yli-Maunula.
The 2013 visits are organised in cooperation with the Oulu August Festival, Cultural Centre Valve, the New Oulu Celebration Year, and the Cultural Institute of Oulunsalo. The Arts Promotion Centre Finland has given financial support to the project, and CircusInfo Finland provides background support. Oulun Tähtisirkus is also taking part in the project: workshops by visiting artists will be arranged for the students.
