The purpose of the Moose Hunt Ballet is to showcase the Oulu ballet culture and to encourage boys and men to try out dance and other creative forms of physical activity. Through the piece, the makers wish to shatter preconceived notions regarding ballet and adult ballet as a hobby, and, by using art, to bring joy and wellbeing into people's everyday lives. In the choreography, drawing influence from folk tradition and mythology, the quintessentially Finnish hunting culture meets the romantic tradition of classical ballet in an exciting way!
The piece is produced by a working group going under the name H.I.R.V.I. consisting of professional and amateur dancers and dance enthusiasts representing several genres.
