The Hupisaari City Park won the Green Flag Award for the third time
The city of Oulu’s Hupisaari City Park won the Green Flag Award for the third time. The Park charmed the judges once again with its diversity and high-quality maintenance.
The Hupisaari City Park was praised as diverse, beautiful and comfortable. Additionally, the Park includes many services, such as a playground, summer cafés, a greenhouse, a rose garden, a barbecue site, and an open-air theatre. You can spend time in the Park in diverse ways – in fact, the Park serves as a communal living room for all citizens. The judges were especially impressed by the area’s well-maintained plantings, diverse flora and valuable stream network. Also, the judges appreciated the methodical and high-quality maintenance of the Park.
The Green Flag Award is a prize system that recognizes the quality in greenspace maintenance and management. The Award is internationally administered by the United Kingdom’s environmental charity organization Keep Britain Tidy. In Finland, the Award is administered by the Finnish Association of Landscape Industries. The number of greenspaces winning the award has risen since last year, and the most Green Flag Awards were given this year than ever before in Finland.
