Spring season swimming school registration opens on January 2, 2026
Registration to Oulu Sport Services’ swimming schools for children and adults begins on Friday January 2, 2026, at 11.00.
Family Swimming Playschools are offered to children of ages 3–4, where children participate with one adult. Also, we offer Swimming Playschools for ages 4–6 as well as Primary and Follow-up Swimming Schools for ages 4–6.
The goal of Swimming Playschools is to teach children to move independently in water, submerge (face and ears under the water), and blow bubbles into the water. The goal of Primary Swimming School is to teach children to dive, float, and slide, as well as to swim five meters freestyle. In Follow-up Swimming Schools, children will reinforce their diving skills and learn to swim for ten meters on both their stomach and back. Children’s swimming schools are held in Raatti Swimming Pool.
For adults, we offer Vesi tutuksi Beginner Courses, Primary Courses, and Technique Courses. In the Vesi tutuksi Course, adults will learn to conquer their fear of water and get familiar with water. In the Primary Course, adults will learn the basics and correct breathing techniques while swimming. At Follow-up courses, adults will learn different swimming techniques. The adult swimming schools are held in Linnanmaa Swimming Pool and Raatti Swimming Pool.
Swimming schools for immigrants are held in OYS’s D-Building. A separate registration will be held for these.
