Oulu Days Production Support – Guidelines for Event Organisers

Oulu Days invites events and performances that enrich the city, bring people together and make Oulu vibrant. Through production support, Oulu Days commissions events and performances as part of its official programme.

When is the application period?

The Oulu Days production support application opens on this page on 18 February 2026 and runs until 20 March 2026.

Selected productions will be contacted by the end of April at the latest.

Who can apply?

Applicants may be:

  • private individuals, working groups, associations and companies
  • Proposals may be submitted in Finnish or English.
  • Units of the City of Oulu are not eligible to apply.

What kind of events are we looking for?

The Oulu Days programme seeks:

  • content that highlights traditions
  • new, experimental events that create urban culture

The programme is expected to be:

  • spread across different parts of the city
  • inclusive of diverse target groups
  • open to everyone and primarily free of charge

Selection criteria

In the selection process, special emphasis is placed on:

  • events taking place in various neighbourhoods across the city
  • new types of event content and initiatives that highlight traditions
  • consideration of different audiences and target groups
  • openness and accessibility of the event

What kind of support is available?

Oulu Days commissions events and performances for its programme – this is not a grant.

Support may include:

  • financial support
    • events: €100–5,000
    • performances: €100–500
  • production support, such as:
    • providing event venues
    • lending small-scale technical equipment

The jury reserves the right to determine the amount of support on a case-by-case basis.

Jury

Recipients of production support are selected by a multidisciplinary jury composed of City of Oulu employees. The jury selects both tradition-based content and new forms of urban culture. The amount of support is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Communications

All events and performers selected for the Oulu Days programme must commit to following the Oulu Days communications guidelines.

Participate in Oulu Days without production support

You can also participate in the Oulu Days programme without production support.

If your event does not require support:

  • review the Oulu Days communications guidelines
  • submit your event to the Oulu Days programme via the Mun Oulu event calendar
