We provide preschool education in the Puosut and Matruusit groups. Our activities are based on the National Core Curriculum for Pre-primary Education. We follow the City of Oulu Pre-primary Education Curriculum in all our operations.
Pateniemi ECEC Centre opened in August 2026 and is located in a shared community building together with a primary school and youth services. The ECEC centre has five groups. Situated close to the sea and with excellent transport connections, our location offers a wide range of opportunities for physical activity and learning in nature.
Our activities are based on community, safety, and the promotion of children's overall well-being. We provide a warm, encouraging, and secure environment for children to grow and learn, where every child is valued and supported as an individual.
Our ECEC centre’s activities are based on whole-day pedagogy and small-group learning, ensuring that every child is seen, heard, and valued throughout the day. We provide a safe, unhurried, and stimulating environment for play and learning. Our activities are planned to reflect children’s interests and individual needs. We support the development of children's language and social skills in all everyday situations.
Being located in connection with a school enables a safe and smooth transition from early childhood education and care to pre-primary education and eventually to basic education.
In our daily activities, we place a strong emphasis on play-based learning, physical activity, outdoor learning, and STEAM education, all of which nurture children's curiosity, participation, and joy of learning. STEAM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
We operate in accordance with the City of Oulu’s sustainable development principles, respecting nature and encouraging responsibility for our environment.
