Termination of a Place in Early Childhood Education and Care

Terminating a Municipal Daycare Place

Daycare place or open early education place must be terminated before ending the use of the care service. You may terminate the place in eVaka. If you cannot terminate the place in eVaka, please fill in the form below and deliver it to the daycare or family day carer.

Terminating the place ends the care relationship and the decision of the granted daycare place is also terminated. Other care relationships and other possible transfer applications are also cancelled when terminating a place.

Terminating a Private Daycare Place

Private daycare places are terminated in eVaka. On top of this, the family needs to inform the private facility about the termination and the child’s last care date. You may negotiate the termination period with the service provider, but usually the termination period is at least one month.

Transferring Between Municipal and Private Daycare

Remember to terminate your earlier daycare place when transferring to another service provider (from municipal to private and vice versa).

Municipal daycare does not have a termination period, but the place cannot be terminated retroactively. Private daycares often have at least a one-month termination period which should be considered when transferring. Both municipal and private places are terminated in eVaka. When transferring from private early childhood care, please remember to inform the daycare staff or the family day carer about the termination and your child’s final care date.

Moving to another city

When moving to another city, the daycare place can be used until the end of the month during which you are moving.

If you cannot terminate the place in eVaka, please fill in the form below and deliver it to the daycare or family day carer.
