Learning Stream in a Nutshell
Welcome to the shared Learning Stream!
The Learning Stream for Sustainable Future compiles sustainability education in Oulu: goals, measures, information, hope, and support.
The Learning stream is...
- an updated version of the previous learning path for sustainable learning, not a separate project
- a sum of previously existing and high-quality sustainability education, and a compilation of the region’s sustainability operators
- a support framework for the development of education and teaching
- a result of continually developing cooperation in Oulu
- dependent on the commitment of leadership and structural changes in implementing ecological reconstruction
- a form of hope and shared work
Get to know the Learning Stream
The Learning Stream for Sustainable Future’s three central themes are human-nature relationships, circular economy, and climate competence. The Learning Stream flows towards eco-social education through these themes. Eco-social education is born and grows through learning. Eco-social education means responsible life within the limits of one Earth with respect for each other and nature. We are all learners in the Learning Stream for Sustainable Future, and we are all growing towards more sustainable lifestyles.
The Learning Stream’s central – and often difficult – themes concern us all. But instead of losing hope, we can be active and take action. Action is rooted in care and empathy towards nature and its diversity. You take care of the things you care about. That is the goal of the Learning Stream: to take care of the future of Oulu and the entire planet.
The Handbook compiles the contents, goals, and actions of the central themes
The Handbook includes the following on each theme:
- Information page
- Goals for different target groups
- Actions
- Support
The Handbook was produced together with Otava Learning services. A large group of people participated in creating the Handbook through workshops, interviews, and surveys (more on page 39). Information on the background of the work and contents on pages 1–9.
