Swimming schools for under school-aged children
There are Family Swimming Playschools for children between ages 3–4, in which one adult accompanies the child. Additionally, there are Swimming Playschools for children between ages 4–6, Primary Swimming Schools for children between ages 4–6, as well as Follow-up Swimming Schools for children between ages 5–6.
In Family Swimming Playschool, the children will learn to move independently in water, submerge in the water, blow bubbles, and get their face wet. In Primary Swimming Schools, children will learn to dive, float and slide as well as swim freestyle for five meters.
In Follow-up Swimming Schools, the goal is to learn to swim for ten meters on their stomach and for ten meters on their back and strengthen diving skills. The Follow-up Swimming Schools now include the new level 2 Swimming School which is a group for children who have already participated in the Follow-up Swimming Schools. In the level 2 Follow-up Swimming Schools, children will learn more about beginner swimming techniques and side-breathing during dog paddling is practiced.
The children’s swimming schools are held in the Raatti Swimming Pool.
Adaptive exercise swimming schools for under school-aged children
The adaptive exercise swimming schools are meant for under school-aged children with mobility or developmental impairments, and children with delays in development of motor skills. The groups are also suitable for severely disabled children. The group does not have general targets, but the goal is to strengthen the personal swimming skills of all individual participants. To join the adaptive swimming school groups, you must enter a queue. Your place in the group will be confirmed with a phone call. The adaptive exercise swimming schools are held in the Linnanmaa Swimming Pool.
Three different courses for adults
There are Vesi tutuksi Courses (Water familiarization), Primary Courses, and Technique Courses for adults in the Linnanmaa Swimming Pool. The Vesi tutuksi Course’s goal is to conquer the fear of water and get familiar with water. The Primary Course’s goal is to practice the basics and correct breathing techniques. The Technique Course focuses on learning different swimming techniques.
