Bus stops are in use regardless of the construction work

The city of Oulu’s new outdoor advertisement operator Outshine started the construction of new bus stops and covers in June. The construction has faced some delays due to reasons outside of Outshine’s control. 

Even though some bus stops are fenced, all bus stops are operating as normal. The construction work is estimated to be finished by the end of August.

The construction is due to advertisement tendering of bus stops 

The city of Oulu searched for a new operator for bus stops with advertisement possibilities. The tendering was won by Outshine Oy. The city’s previous outdoor advertisement partner JCDecaux Finland Oy will dismantle the bus stop covers it owns, which will be used to serve public transport users in other cities the company operates in, according to the company. 

The city of Oulu owns the bus stop areas. Outshine is responsible for the advertisement devices at the bus stops as well as the cleaning and maintenance of the bus stops. Outshine has the exclusive right to advertise on the bus stops they build. The company pays a dividend on advertisement sales to the city of Oulu.
