A fishing pier will be built in Merijalinranta

Oulu Urban Environmental Services will construct a steel-structured fishing pier along the concrete wall in Merijalinranta in Hartaanselänranta. The pier will improve the fishing conditions in the area, especially concerning safety.

The pier is fixed. It is designed for all fishers. However, during whitefish scoop net fishing season, the pier is reserved for scoop net fishers.  

The construction of the pier might cause temporary interruptions for pedestrian traffic. Pedestrian traffic will be directed via a secondary route during excavation work. The construction is estimated to finish in the first week of November. 

The pier’s design and construction are funded through framework agreements regarding the Oulujoki River Delta. On top of the city of Oulu, funding parties include Oulun Energia and ELY-Centre of Norhtern Ostrobothnia.
