The Hupisaari City Park won the Green Flag Award once again for the years 2026–2027
The Hupisaari City Park in Oulu has once again won the Green Flag Award. The prize was awarded for the years 2026–2027. The Hupisaari City Park charmed the judges with its diversity, high-quality maintenance, and varying park scenery.
The judges described the Hupisaari City Park as a diverse and extensive greenspace where views and moods vary from reverentially maintained to lushly abundant. The water element, with the park’s streams and connections to the coast, makes the area special. The park includes many services, like a large playground, campfire site, summer cafés, a greenhouse, rose garden, and an open-air theater. You can spend your time in various ways in the park.
The Green Flag Award is celebrating its 10th anniversary in Finland. The programme has awarded parks in Finland since 2016. 25 greenspaces were awarded the Green Flag Award in 2026.The number of winners is the largest in the Green Flag Award’s history in Finland. The Green Flag Award is a price programme that offers recognition for the quality of maintenance and administration of greenspaces. It is run internationally by the British environmental charity organization Keep Britain Tidy and in Finland by the Finnish Association of Landscape Industries.
Finland’s Green Flag Award winners will join international network of over 2 400 greenspaces in 17 different countries. The year 2026 is the Finnish Association of Landscape Industries’ campaign year “Wellbeing is built in living environments”, which highlights the importance of living environments in the wellbeing of humans.
