Registration for the city of Oulu’s skiing and skating schools opens on January 7, 2026

Oulu Sport Services organizes free-of-charge skiing and skating schools in early 2026. Registration for the groups open on January 7, 2026, and the groups begin on week 3. 

Skiing schools are offered to families, children, adults, and immigrants. Skiing schools for children and adults are held near the Raksila Baseball Stadium. Adult groups are organized in Virpiniemi as well. In Raksila, you can borrow skis and ski boots, as well as a skiing sled for special-needs skiers. 

Outdoor skating schools are organized all over Oulu: on the rinks in Kaakkuri, Castren, Niittyaro, Pateniemi, and Ritaharju. Skating schools are meant for children between ages 3–12. There are groups for beginners and more experienced skaters at all rinks. Helmets are mandatory.
