Remember to follow swimming pool etiquette in Oulu’s Swimming Pools

09.09.2025

The number of swimming pool users grows in the falls. Oulu Sport Services wants to remind users to follow the swimming pool etiquette to ensure that the experience at the pools is good for everybody.

The instructions of Oulu’s swimming pools remind people to wash up carefully. Hair must be washed, and long hair must be tied down in the pool area. It is not permitted to shower or use the sauna while wearing a swimsuit.

“We want to remind citizens of Oulu that every visitor is responsible for the comfort and cleanliness of the swimming pool. This includes not coming to swim when sick during flu seasons,” Sport Director Niina Epäilys states.

During September, the Swimming Pools will increase announcements both in Finnish and English. Illustrated instructions about washing will be included in the shower rooms for children as well.

“Water sports are a popular hobby in Oulu. During the winter months, the daily number of visitors is often over 4000 on weekdays. Following the etiquette means considering others”, Epäilys reminds.

There are three Swimming Pools in Oulu: Ratti, Linnanmaa and Vesi-Jatuli in Haukipudas.
