Start of the School Year – Important Information for Parents and Students
The new school year will begin on August 12th.
The schedule for the first days is as follows:
Wednesday, August 12th:
School begins at 9:00 and ends at 12:00.
Thursday, August 13th:
Years 1–6 and TC students: 8:15–12:00
Years 7–9 students: 10:10–14:00
Friday, August 14th:
All students: 9:00–13:15
Students will receive their regular timetables from their class or homeroom teachers during the first week of school. Timetables will also be available in Wilma as soon as they are finalized.
Arrival on the First Day
Students in Years 1–6 and the TC group will gather by class in the courtyard (sisäpiha).
Students in Years 7–9 will gather in the front yard (etupiha).
Teachers will meet their classes outside and guide them into the school.
Practical Reminders
OIS is a shoeless school. We recommend that students bring indoor shoes to wear inside the school building.
The parking area is reserved for staff only.
We kindly ask parents to follow the traffic guidelines, especially at the turning point at the end of the school yard.
Whenever possible, we encourage students to walk, cycle, or use other means of transport. If arriving by car, please drop students off a short distance from the school. This also supports our goal of increasing students’ daily physical activity.
We wish all OIS families a wonderful and relaxing summer holiday.
