Responding to the summer absence inquiry

Absences during the summer period (June, July, and August) are inquired about through a separate absence inquiry in eVaka. When the inquiry is open, you will receive a notification in the top right corner of the eVaka calendar, which you can tap to respond to the inquiry. Alternatively, you can open the inquiry on a computer browser by clicking the "Holiday questionnaire" link above the calendar or on a mobile device browser by tapping the "Attendances / Absences" button at the bottom and then " Holiday questionnaire ". You can edit your responses during the inquiry period by answering the inquiry again.

Once the inquiry has ended, the absences you reported will be locked, and you will not be able to change them in eVaka. Contact your child's daycare center if you need early childhood education on a day you reported as an absence in the inquiry.

No customer fee will be charged for continuous absences of at least six (6) weeks reported by the deadline. eVaka will automatically convert these absences into free absences. Later reported continuous absences of at least six weeks will not be eligible for fee compensation except for special reasons. These include the parent's/parents' layoff, termination, sick leave, or changes to annual leave due to the employer's actions. Provide written proof of the above changes to the daycare manager.

Responding to the inquiry

  1. Log in to eVaka at varhaiskasvatus.ouka.fi.
  2. Tap the "Answer the absence questionnaire" notification in the top right corner of the calendar.
  3. Mark the absence periods for each child separately. 
    You can report multiple absence periods for a child by tapping "Add holiday".
  4. Save the absences by tapping "Confirm".
     

Editing responses

  1. Log in to eVaka at varhaiskasvatus.ouka.fi.
  2. Click the "Holiday questionnaire" link at the top of the calendar.
    On a mobile device, first tap the "Attendances / Absences" button at the bottom of the screen, and then tap "Holiday questionnaire".
  3. Make the desired changes to the dates or delete the entire absence period by clicking the trash can icon at the end of the row.
  4. Save the changes by clicking “Confirm".
