The Multilingual Library

The Multilingual Library is located in Helsinki. You can order books in your own language for free from there. The Multilingual Library has books in more than 80 different languages.

The collections also include music, films and magazines.

Visit your local library and ask the staff to order the materials you need.

You can view the multilingual selection in Helmet material database with an advanced search mode. In this mode the browsing system utilizes language selection, which allows only materials in a certain language to be displayed.

The following languages are NOT included in the collections of the Multilingual Library: English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Russian, Estonian, Nordic languages.
Russian language materials can be borrowed from the Russian language Library (in Finnish).

How to borrow materials from the Multilingual Library

Visit a library and ask help from the staff. Bring your personal OUTI library card with you.

State which or what type of books you wish to borrow and in which language.

The librarian will help you order books and other materials.

You will receive an email or a text message from the library when your books have arrived.

Pick up the books from library. Visit the service desk and state your name.

A staff member will give you your books.

Return the books by the due date. Take good care of the borrowed materials.

Enter Helmet Web Library.

Helmet Web Library can be found in the address www.helmet.fi. You can choose your language at the top right of the website. 

Select ”Advanced search” and use an asterisk (*) as a truncation symbol.

Type as the search term: *

Select the language you wish to use, for example "Albanian".

Choose the location as "Pasila" OR "Pasila lapset".

Click: Search.

The Multilingual Library – literature in your language
