The city centre vision is a strategic plan that guides the development of the Oulu city centre. In the vision work, an experiential, unique and functional city centre for the year 2040 is developed together with citizens of Oulu.
The city of Oulu starts its new city centre vision development for the years 2026–2040. The city centre vision tackles sustainable future challenges and the city strategy goals, such as increasing housing, business facilities and jobs to support vitality, increasing comfort in the urban environment, and developing urban culture, carbon neutrality, health, safety and internationality. The new vision will be finished in 2026 and will lead the city centre development until 2040.
Oulu’s city centre vision is done in cooperation with all citizens of Oulu. The goals and measures of development are not decided beforehand; they are created together. The final result is a shared vision that we commit to, and we implement through different actions.
