Developing international cooperation and sustainable entrepreneurship education - Aurora Entrepreneurialis project
The City of Oulu is developing ways and methods to strengthen the know-how young people need in future working life. We are collaborating with various networks both nationally and internationally. The goal is to offer students possibilities to learn sustainable entrepreneurial skills, teach economic knowledge, teach them to identify possibilities, and being an active citizen.
Furthermore, we want to support teachers in their educational work and give them competencies to enhance the development of their students and their schools towards the spirit of acting in an entrepreneurial manner.
Aurora Entrepreneurialis - Cooperation between schools and companies in the border regions of Sweden and Finland
The overall objective of the project is to develop secondary-level schools entrepreneurship education in a multifaceted way. The main target groups for the project are students and teachers. We have identified three focus areas that will be integral parts of the project: entrepreneurial culture in schools, sustainable entrepreneurship in education and cross-border collaboration.
Working with these areas, the project will create impactful cross-border connections between schools in northern Sweden and Finland and strengthen the whole region's skills supply long-term. Project activities include creating cross-border networks, high-quality teacher training, innovation events & company visits for students and facilitating collaboration between schools.
The project gives young people skills and experiences to become enterprising citizens who can take advantage of opportunities to work, study and run sustainable enterprises in the whole region and who are able to help create a more sustainable future. The project will focus on sustainability both as content and as part of the implementation.
We have a thematic focus on sustainable entrepreneurship, dealing with the ability to discover, create, and utilize entrepreneurial opportunities that help to build sustainable societies. We want to use the project as a way of developing how our different organizations work with sustainable entrepreneurship.
Summary of the implementation plan
- Innovation events for pupils and teachers
3-day innovation event (once in a school year), in which the pupils get acquinted with the local companies, solve a sustainability challenge in entrepreneurial way with their teachers and network. - Cross-border entrepreneurship visits
2-day cross-border visit (twice in a school year), in which the pupils and teachers improve their knowledge of the opportunities to work, study and develop sustainable businesses in the region. - Online teacher training courses
Each course consists recorded lectures with experts, followed by digital interactive learning and networking sessions. Courses will be held 4-6 times within a school year and the themes vary from course to course. - Class to class collaboration with the help of digital tools
The collaboration projects between two to three schools at time consist 4-6 online meeting within one school year. Themes relate to the project objectives.
