Environmental protection - prevention and work carried out by authorities
Environmental protection encompasses aspects such as activities harmful to the environment, waste management, water protection, matters concerning licences, notifications, and control in conjunction with water and air protection as well as noise abatement, matters concerning nature preservation, recreational use of greenspaces and land use planning, and monitoring and controlling the state of the environment.
In addition, the environmental protection unit of the Oulu Environment Office is in charge of coordinating and developing the promotion of environmental protection.
