Suspected food poisoning
Possible causes of food poisoning include bacteria and viruses. Food poisoning is most often caused by errors in the handling of foodstuffs, such as cooling the food too slowly, storage in a warm place, insufficient cooking and unhygienic handling.
Food poisoning usually begins suddenly about 1 to 12 hours after a meal, typically with vomiting, and a little later, diarrhoea. Take a sample of the food, if possible. When suspecting food poisoning, contact the Environment Office.
After being informed of food poisoning caused by foodstuffs handled by them, entrepreneurs in the food branch must immediately report it to the Environment Office.
