After comprehensive education, applications may be made to vocational institutes and upper secondary schools.

There are five vocational upper secondary education and training institutes in Oulu which provide vocational education in various fields. In many vocational institutes you can also gain a vocational qualification through an apprenticeship.

Applications

Students can apply to vocational education and training institutes through two different procedures:

The secondary education joint application procedure taking place annually in February or March. The joint application procedure is for applicants with no further education than comprehensive education. Applications are sent through studyinfo.fi.

The continuous admission procedure is for applicants who have completed the general upper secondary education syllabus or the matriculation examination or have a previous vocational qualification or work experience from the field of education they are applying to. The application periods in continuous admission are different in every vocational qualification. For more information on the available qualifications, please visit the website of the applicable institute or contact the institute directly.

You can also study the general upper secondary education syllabus and take the matriculation examination while you are studying at a vocational education and training institute.
