Arrival and Accessibility – Kotilo

Arrival 

Children’s Cultural Centre Kotilo is located on the fourth floor of Central Library Saari. Central Library Saari is located in the address Kaarlenväylä 3, 90100 Oulu, right by the Oulu city centre, next to the Marketplace and the Oulu Theatre. You can enter Kotilo by elevator or by stairs from the Central Library’s main entrance.  

Arrival by elevator: Take elevator C from floor 1U to floor 1. Turn left and walk through the aisle to elevator D. Take elevator D to floor 4. 

You must remove your shoes at Kotilo. There is space for shoes, outdoor clothes, and carriages next to Kotilo’s entrance. There are toilets in Kotilo. 

Accessibility 

Route to Central Library Saari’s main entrance 

  • 3 accessible parking spots are located outside, approximately 10 meters from the entrance. Width of parking spot is under 3,6 meters. 

  • A pick-up area is located right next to the main entrance (less than 5 meters to the entrance). The entrance is easily accessible from the pick-up area. 

  • Path to the entrance is level, wide, and well-lit. 

Saari’s main entrance 

  • The main entrance is easily visible and well-lit. There is a roof atop the main entrance. 

  • The doors of the main entrance are difficult to spot. There is plenty of room to move outside the doors, for example, for wheelchairs. The door opens automatically by pressing a button. 

  • There are over 2 cm tall doorsteps by the main entrance. 

Saari’s indoor facilities 

  • The library has 4 floors. 

  • The library has an elevator that has an automatic door and fits a wheelchair. The floor buttons are marked with Braille. The exit button is different from the others (the accessible elevator’s measurements are: width 1,1 m and depth 1,4 m). 

  • The facilities include surface materials that guide movement. 

  • The indoor doors do not stand out from the walls clearly. 

  • The facility includes an accessible toilet in the same floor as the main entrance. 

  • There is another accessible toilet on the 2nd floor. 

  • There is another accessible toilet on the 3rd floor. 

  • The facility includes a fixed induction loop in the meeting room, auditorium, and a mobile induction loop. 

Route to Children’s Cultural Centre Kotilo 

  • Take elevator C from floor 1U to floor 1. Turn left and walk through the aisle to elevator D. Take elevator D to floor 4.

  • Children’s Cultural Centre Kotilo is located on the 4th floor. 

  • Children's Cultural Centre Kotilo includes an accessible toilet.
