Nallikari Central Playground

Nallikari Central Playground doubles the fun of other playgrounds: the fenced playground has two entrances, a 4,7-meter-high jungle gym and Oulu’s only double ropeway.

The park’s central jungle gym has two layers and its towers are connected by a crawling tunnel and a suspension bridge. Both towers have slides, one curved slide and one lower, regular slide. Also, one tower includes a wild slide rail. The jungle gym is meant for over 4-year-old children as it includes different physical challenges.

For the smallest children, the playground includes a small slide and swings. A parent and child can use family swings simultaneously while maintaining crucial eye contact. On top of a sandbox, the playground includes a sand table that can be played with while sitting in a wheelchair or baby carriage.

The playground has two carousels: the cup-like Tipi and the wheel-shaped Supernova. Next to these stands a two-player RotoGen reaction totem; you must react to the flashing lights as fast as possible. The totem works with human energy, meaning that you must turn a crank to power the game.

The game’s lights come from panels that are primarily built of waste collected from seas. The material of the gray poles is derived from recycled textile and plastic waste.

A public toilet in the north-end of the Nallikarin Aalto building can be used.

You can reach Nallikari by bus or the Potnapekka in the summers. There are parking areas for bicycles, motorbikes, scooters, and cars nearby.

Address: Holstinsalmentie, between Nallikari and Aallokkopolku. See the playground on the map.
